Although plastic windows and doors have been popular in application, and have entered ordinary people's home, but the ability to distinguish plastic windows & doors stands or falls is inferior to that of daily commodity. Plastic doors and windows are used in great quantities not only in newly- built houses now, but also when the majority of residents are being transformed or decorated in old houses. Therefore, it’s necessary to popularize knowledge to consumer, so as to increase the understanding of plastic windows and doors, and to raise the ability of quality to plastic windows and doors.
To broad consumers, they do not have the special measuring tools for quality inspection, and also are not familiar with quality index. So we can enrich a few more perceptual knowledge intuitively to improve the ability of identifying quality. We can focus on the following aspects. For finished products of plastic windows and doors, there are 6 useful steps: 1. look, 2. touch, 3. knock, 4. weigh in hand, 5. try, 6. ask.
First, have a look at the profile color. Is the color and lustre uniform? Is there is pitting or black spots? White profiles should be green or white, if it’s yellow and white, it is inferior.
Secondly, are doors and Windows soldered securely? Are there cracks in the weld? Are the cutting marks are clear? The depth of the cutting marks generally does not exceed 0.3mm. Are ther scratches and bump marks?
Thirdly, have to look at the seal gaskets.Are the gaskets firm and tight? Do the rubber strips have defects such as crimping, retracting and cracking?
Fourthly, is the overlap joint of the frames. The amount of overlap should be 8-10mm. Of course, the bigger the better, but the opening and closing of door and window sashes cannot be affected. Too little lap will affect the seal and reduce air tightness.
Fifthly, to see the accuracy of hardware fittings of door window pledges, processing, installation. The completeness of small accessories, such as windproof block, buffer block, limit block, anti-theft block.
Sixth, see the position, number and patency of drain hole and air pressure balance hole.
First, check whether the profile surface is smooth, whether the edges and corners are clear, and whether there are groove marks on the plane.
Second, feel the precision of door and window processing, and check whether there are burrs, scratches, flash and other defects in the corners and processed parts.
Third, feel the firm degree of hardware accessories and switching flexibility.
Fourth, feel the rigidity of the door and window frame, that is, the solidity of material. In general, when people facing the window pull or push the door or window sash with one hand, the profile will not shake.
As soon as the PVC profile plane is knocked, listen carefully to the knocking sound. The clearer the sound is, the thinner the profile is and the lower the quality is.
Second, knock the glass, the duller the knocking sound is, the tighter the glass installation is; if the sound is crackling, the glass installation is not tight and the installation is not firm.
Weigh the door and window frame. Before the door or the window is installed with glass, it’s called the window frame or the door frame, that is, weighing the frame. Because the ordinary plastic window needs about 7~8kg of PVC profile per square meter and is equipped with regular steel lining, the consumption of steel lining per unit area of the window is about 80% of the consumption of profile. For example, a plastic window of 1.5m×1.5m=2.25m2 uses 8kg of plastic profile per square meter, the weight of plastic profile per square meter is about 18kg, and the weight of steel lining is about 15kg. Therefore, the weight difference between the plastic window and steel lining and that without steel lining is nearly double. Even if the steel lining is thinner, it is much heavier than that without steel lining. It can be known by hand.
First, the opening and closing force of the door and window sash should not exceed 10kg, that is to say, the door and window sash can be opened and closed without effort. Especially for the sliding window, if it need grat effort to open or close, your force is too large.
Second, test the firmness, flexibility and reliability of the switch and locking parts, and check whether the handle makes a creaking sound during operation. If there is a creaking sound, the strength of the handle is too low. After the handle is tightly closed, check whether the door or window sash s tight and whether there is any displacement. Check whether the locking parts (fasteners) can move freely after locked and whether the opening angle of the sash reaches 90°.
