Unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (uPVC) also known as rigid PVC, is one of the most versatile and sustainable materials used in the construction industry. Polyvinyl chloride or PVC has evolved over the years to become more efficient, durable and affordable. Since it is unplasticized, uPVC is more rigid and has efficient insulation properties.

The high-grade flexibility makes uPVC an ideal choice for windows and doors used in commercial and residential purposes. Also, unlike wood and aluminum, uPVC retains its shape in all weather conditions and stays unhindered in case of any physical impact.

There is now a paradigm shift in the market regarding the use of materials required to fabricate windows and doors. Increasingly uPVC profiles have become a household favorite. They have a lot of reasons to be in huge demand. A few of the most highlighted benefits of these uPVC profiles are its strength and durability.

Strength and durability of these uPVC profiles originate from the process with which it has been manufactured. Let us delve deeper into how DIMEX makes these really strong uPVC profiles.

Here are a few steps involved in the extrusion of uPVC profiles:

Extrusion Procedure:cheap coloured UPVC doors - DIMEX

Extrusion of uPVC profiles is the very first step in the manufacturing process. Extrusion is the process of how uPVC windows and doors are born. A mix is prepared with certain ingredients. The extrusion of uPVC profiles requires the desired temperature of 200-275 degree Celsius.

Components of the resin mix:

When the mix is made, we use higher levels of Titanium dioxide (TiO2) and lower level of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) to make the extrusion profiles more durable and strong as well as resistant to UV rays. These ingredients used in the mix are stabilizers for the extrusion profiles. Commonly lead is used as a stabilizer, but DIMEX is certainly different. There is no use of lead in the resin mix. DIMEX uPVC profiles are lead-free giving them an eco-friendly edge.

Aftermath of the extrusion procedure:

To produce uPVC extrusion profiles there is a necessity of large-scale automatic mixing equipment which will ensure the mix to be churned the raw materials accurately and scientifically. DIMEX’s extrusion plant has been designed with the latest laboratory equipment certified by the state accredited laboratory. Once the mix is ready, then the molten mix is entered into a dye. The dye is used to give the extrusion profiles its shape as it is being pulled. The uPVC profile is now cooled with a water bath. Once they are sufficiently cooled, packaging labels and protective tapes are put into the uPVC profiles. Then they are cut into standardized shapes for distribution.

Reinforcement:

Now that the uPVC profiles have undergone the extrusion process they are now reinforced. The reinforcement process is very superior due to the use of galvanized steel reinforcements. They are the most suitable form of reinforcement elements for uPVC profiles.

Eco-friendly:

uPVC doors and windows can be recycled and reused. The doors and windows offered by DIMEX are eco-friendly as they help in reducing deforestation by using uPVC as a smarter alternative for wood. The extrusive process of DIMEX uPVC window and door profiles is relatively energy efficient, compared to other materials.

DIMEX is always ready to offer you strong, durable and eco-friendly uPVC profiles.
